José Ignacio Gelpí Jorba is a registered lawyer with the Distinguished Bar Association of Barcelona and the partner responsible for the Labour Law Department at Prime Legal Abogados. He has been advising companies and workers from a labor law perspective for more than 25 years.

His career took him to the firm Bufete Martínez Aynat, Abogados Asociados (1996 – 1999) and the Barcelona office of Garrigues Abogados y Asesores Tributarios (1999 – 2016) before becoming a co-founding partner of his own firm specializing in labor law, Gelpí & Morales Abogados Laboralistas, currently known as ARPE LEGAL, SLP.

He has extensive professional experience in labor advisory services as well as in arguing labor cases in Court, collective bargaining and restructuring, special employment relationships, contract extinction/suspension procedures, dismissals, changes in working conditions, geographic mobility, working hours and days, productive decentralization (outsourcing) as well as the legal-labor impact on mergers and acquisitions. His broad experience and specialization in all areas of Labor Law, Social Security, Occupational Safety and Health as well as Labor Procedural Law led him to being designated by the prestigious law website Best Lawyers in Spain in Labor Law in 2020 and 2021.

Since the year 2007, he has been combining his legal advisory work with teaching as an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona on various subjects related to his area of specialization in the Private Law Department and Labor and Social Security Law area in addition to offering classes in the Master in Business Law and Labor Legal Advising program at the University of Barcelona. He has also been lecturer for various seminars, conferences and post-graduate programs.
